Chubco Maintenance Guide
WEEKLY:
Tray Bushings: For tray & stabilizer arm bushings apply 1 - 2 pumps (from ordinary grease gun) on each bushing every 40-60 hours of operation. Fresh grease should become visible when sufficient grease has been applied. There are three points per shelf. One on each of the spider castings for each shelf and one on the stabilizer ring.
Shelves: Check shelves for level and level as needed.
MONTHLY:
Clean Interior: Remove any dropped pans and product, clean as needed, check burners and make sure that they are burning clean and fire bricks are in place, Clean holes in burner castings and venturis as needed, replace broken or cracked fire bricks as needed.
Main Bearing: The main bearing should be lubed with as much Moly Grease as it will accept (usually less than one pump); do NOT overgrease. Overgreasing will destroy the bearing seals, which can greatly reduce main bearing life.
Door Gear Box: Find the 3/8 flathead screw at about the center of the hearthplate; locate the obvious mark on the screw that indicates proper oil level (acts as a dipstick). Add Hi-Temp Oven Oil to the proper level.
Motor Belt: Inspect motor drive belt and tighten or replace if needed.
Drive Chain: Inspect drive chain and sprockets. Lube chain with spray chain lube (available from Grainger part # 3HY54). Tighten chain if needed and check sprocket alignment, correct if needed.
Stabilizer Rollers: Inspect stabilizer rollers; there should be about .006" to about .012" (about the thickness of a match book cover) clearance between one roller and the stabilizer ring with the ring in contact with the other. Adjust the stabilizer roller support to maintain clearance as needed.
Exhaust Fan: If installed, lube fan bearings, inspect belt, tighten or replace as needed.
SEMI ANNUALLY:
Drive Gear Box: Locate the level-plug about 1 - 1½“ from the bottom of the gear box. Remove the plug; a small weep of oil should be visible. If not, remove the vent plug (on gear box top), add Hi-Temp Oven Oil as needed until oil begins to weep from level-plug. Re-install plug(s).
Clean and inspect interior, exterior, and insulation level, add insulation as needed.
Regular lubrication will greatly prolong the oven life and time
between major repairs.
